Job summary

Essex Secondary School in Essex, England, is seeking a motivated Science Technician to join the Science Department. The role supports Biology, Chemistry and Physics teaching with strong practical skills to enhance everyday learning.

You will prepare equipment, set up and clear away experiments, maintain stock, and help keep laboratories safe, compliant with health and safety guidelines. Training will be provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Has a background in science (academic or practical).
• Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Has good attention to detail and strong health & safety awareness.
• Can work effectively as part of a team in a busy school environment.
• Previous experience as a Science Technician is desirable, but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Preparing equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
• Setting up and clearing away experiments in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
• Maintaining, organising and ordering stock and equipment.
• Supporting practical lessons where required.
• Ensuring laboratories are safe, clean and compliant with current regulations.
• Assisting with risk assessments and safe storage of chemicals.
