Job summary

The Fix Creative Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Scenic Carpenter for a part-time role with overtime. Initially 2.5 days a week pro rata £36k, with possibility to move to full-time as the company grows.

We work across theatre, TV, film, advertising and live events, delivering bespoke scenic sets, architectural facades, props and installations. You will lead workshop-based fabrication and occasional site work.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in scenic carpentry, set construction or a similar fabrication environment.
• Strong practical carpentry and fabrication skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Experience supervising or coordinating other people when required.
• Proactive and organised approach to work.
• Experience working both in a workshop and on site.
• Good communication with production teams and clients when required.

Responsibilities

• Scenic carpentry and set construction from drawings and specs.
• Preparing materials and organising workshop production.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop.
• Operating and maintaining workshop machinery, equipment and hand tools.
• Leading and supporting freelance carpenters when required.
• Coordinating and delivering site installations.
• Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Collaborating with the wider production team.
• Taking responsibility for quality, deadlines and problem solving.
