Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) invites applications for a Climate Application Scientist specialising in satellite remote sensing of the atmosphere. The role leads a portfolio of climate information projects within the Actionable Climate Information Section, part of the Climate Action and Science Directorate, ECSAT at Harwell, UK.

You will expand the use of EO data for climate science, engage with international communities, and help define projects and communications supporting climate monitoring

Qualifications

  • PhD in satellite-based monitoring of atmospheric physics/chemistry required.
  • Four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Background in other Earth science domains is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; travel frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Expand the availability, awareness and scientific impact of long-term satellite EO data for climate science and applications, focused on atmosphere.
  • Investigate scientific goals of international user communities involved in climate research, modelling and mitigation.
  • Contribute to ESA projects, work plans and public communications on EO.
  • Support ESA Graduate Trainees and Research Fellows.
