Job summary

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) seeks an experienced Higher Scientist in the Climate and Earth Observation group to lead the operational delivery of EQC for Copernicus Climate Change Service datasets. You will work with ECMWF and the CDS to ensure data quality, develop QA/QA notebooks, and mentor junior staff while enhancing data products for European and global use.

You will use your expertise in remote sensing, data analysis, and Python to advance climate data quality and uncertainty

Qualifications

• Degree in Physics, Maths, Data Science or Earth Science.

Responsibilities

• Operate and deliver EQC production for climate observations from satellite and in situ data.
• Develop QA/QA notebooks and tutorials in consultation with C3S users.
• Collaborate with CEO group, contract consortium and ECMWF to produce EQC materials.
• Improve EQC assessments and inform future data quality research.
• Prepare FFP statements mapping data quality to user needs.
• Contribute to EQC roadmaps, prioritisation and progress reports.
