Job summary

SGN is seeking a Senior Risk & Policy Manager to lead safety risk governance and multi-year risk intervention roadmaps. You will steer policy adoption, assurance outputs, and evidence-based resource allocation across SGN Scotland, SGN South, and London operations.

You will translate complex assurance findings into actionable policy and oversee senior specialists and external partners to deliver measurable risk reduction aligned with our SMS standards.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent.
• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Risk Management or related discipline, or significant equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in Safety Management Systems (SMS) governance and assurance.
• Ability to translate assurance findings into actionable policy or treatment plans.
• High-level influencing skills to advise senior leadership with evidence-based insights.
• 6+ years in high-risk, regulated industries (Gas or Utilities advantageous).
• Proven track record leading strategic safety or enterprise-level risk programmes.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership by taking full ownership of the SGN Safety Risk operating model.
• Overseeing policy adoption and assurance outputs across the business.
• Designing and delivering a multi-year roadmap for specialist risk interventions.
• Providing senior leadership with evidence-based insights on risk and resource allocation.
• Leading and inspiring Risk & Policy Leads and ensuring performance aligns with safety outcomes.
