Job summary

Highfield Professional Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Safety Case Consultant to lead nuclear safety case activities across major engineering programmes, with hybrid working in Warrington, Bristol or Leicester.

You will run HAZID/HAZOP studies, produce radiological safety assessments and ALARP demonstrations, review PSRs and PCSRs, and mentor junior consultants while managing delivery to programme and budget.

Qualifications

• Significant experience producing nuclear safety cases.
• Strong understanding of ALARP principles and their practical application.
• Knowledge of ONR Safety Assessment Principles.
• Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• An Engineering or Science degree (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

• Leading and facilitating HAZID and HAZOP studies.
• Producing and verifying radiological safety assessments, including dose calculations, risk assessments and ALARP demonstrations.
• Preparing and reviewing nuclear safety documentation, including PSRs, PCSRs and other safety reports.
• Managing technical delivery, ensuring work is completed to programme and budget while proactively managing project risks.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior consultants.
• Supporting the development of robust safety case strategies and sharing best practice across multiple projects.
• Working closely with engineering, radiological protection and wider project teams to deliver integrated safety solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Safety Case Consultant, you will lead the delivery of technical safety case activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and facilitating HAZID and HAZOP studies
• Producing and verifying radiological safety assessments, including dose calculations, risk assessments and ALARP demonstrations
• Preparing and reviewing nuclear safety documentation, including PSRs, PCSRs and other safety reports

About You

• Knowledge of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) Safety Assessment Principles
• Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
• An Engineering or Science degree (or equivalent experience)
• Chartered status, or be actively working towards professional registration (desirable)
• The ability to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance
