Job summary

Nene Park Academy in Peterborough is seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to oversee safeguarding and child protection across the academy, carrying out DSL duties and coordinating multi-agency referrals within Meridian Trust.

The role requires strong communication, confidentiality and a proactive, team-oriented approach to protect pupils and support families, with a focus on safeguarding records, GDPR compliance and attendance at key safeguarding meetings.

Qualifications

• Trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with multi-agency teams in education.
• Confidentiality and child-protection awareness.
• Flexible, reliable with good timekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver practical support, advice and guidance to vulnerable children and families to support students' academic, therapeutic, and pastoral needs.
• Manage and review the strategy for family work within the academy.
• Represent the school at safeguarding and multi-agency meetings; make decisions on safeguarding outcomes as required.
• Manage the safeguarding platform and triage referrals to DSLs and agencies.
• Support house teams to contribute to Early Help Assessments (EHAs) and meet with families on safeguarding processes.
• Liaise with external agencies (LADO and LA safeguarding) as required.
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records in line with GDPR requirements.
