Job summary

IMSERV, a leading energy data and metering specialist in the UK, is seeking a Technical Architect to own the Astral platform architecture and the data foundation, APIs, and AI layer. You will steer the technical roadmap from current estate to target state, including a move to multi-tenant architecture.

You will define the API strategy, lead design decisions, and collaborate with the Head of Development to deliver scalable, secure solutions across web, API, and data layers.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a technical or solutions architect on customer-facing SaaS platforms.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, including migration from single-tenant to multi-tenant.
• Engineering background in C#/.NET, Angular and Azure.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and orchestration tools (Azure Durable Functions, Temporal, Camunda or similar).
• Practical knowledge of AI (LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation) for commercial data.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI services.
• Energy or utilities domain knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• Document and align current and target architecture across the department.
• Review and approve major technical decisions and integrations.
• Define API strategy for portal, analytics, and data-feed APIs with entitlement.
• Design multi-utility data architecture for metering, consumption, carbon, asset, CRM data flows.
• Design rules and orchestration layer with event backbone and decision engine.
• Lead AI layer design with guardrails and entitlement compliance.
• Lead build-versus-buy evaluations.
