Job summary

Affidea UK & Ireland is opening a new Wimbledon clinic and seeks a senior rotational radiographer for the Imaging team. You will work across MRI, CT, X-ray and DEXA, contributing to a patient-focused service from day one.

You will perform radiographic examinations, operate imaging systems, and help develop clinical practice while ensuring safety and high standards of care.

Qualifications

• BSc(Hons) Radiography or equivalent required.
• HCPC registration required.
• Cannulate and administer contrast agents (CT/MRI) required.
• Understand radiographic equipment and how images are stored/shared.
• Experience in at least two modalities (MRI, CT, X-ray, DEXA) required.
• Competent IT skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiographic examinations to high standards of care and safety.

Located in the Wimbledon Quarter Shopping Centre in Southwest London, our first UK clinic is a 33,000 sq ft ambulatory diagnostic centre bringing together advanced diagnostics, outpatient services and theatres under one roof. Services include a Private GP, an Express Care minor injuries unit, consultant and treatment rooms, multimodality advanced diagnostic imaging (3T MRI, 1.5T MRI, CT, X-Ray and DEXA), surgical theatres and inpatient ward facilities.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a senior rotational radiographer to join our Imaging team with a competitive salary range on offer depending on experience. Rotations would be within 2-3 modalities including brand new state-of-the art MRI, CT, X-ray and DEXA

What will the duties include?

• Performing radiographic examinations within the scope of services offered by the centre, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and diagnostic accuracy
• Operate Imaging equipment independently and play a key part in the smooth running of daily imaging services
• Manage the daily Imaging lists, patient schedule, equipment maintenance and quality assessment (QA)
• Use clinical and cognitive radiographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures according to anatomical, pathological and diagnostic findings
• Observe radiation safety local rules and systems of dose reduction (Justification, Optimisation, Limitation)
• Ensure patients understand the nature of each examination and that consent is obtained prior to any procedure
• Maintain accurate records of every examination, including screening times and radiation doses
• Keep abreast of new developments in radiography and participate in staff development and performance review
• Maintains a work environment that fosters quality care delivery, accountability and employee satisfaction
• Assist with ongoing development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including participating in development of policies, procedures protocols a, guidelines and audits
• Provides direct patient care in specialty areas
• Undertake relevant training and competency assessments, strictly adhering to agreed protocols and procedures. To supply medicines using Patient Group Directions, without compromising patient safety. This involves ascertaining the patient’s suitability for drugs and taking joint responsibility for the potential complications under the indirect supervision of radiologists. To be aware of the clinical hazards and emergencies that such drugs can induce
• Adheres to appropriate Health & Safety guidelines and regulations
• Ensures Care Quality Commission regulations related to Imaging are adhered to
• Undertake basic patient observations, recognise a deteriorating patient, and manage immediately and appropriately
• Use good radiographic techniques and modify as clinically appropriate. Have the technical ability to manipulate a range of equipment, whilst maintaining patient comfort and adequately communicate with patients and colleagues to ensure the safe movement of patients into imaging position. Use appropriate touch techniques to locate external bony landmarks

What we need from you?

• BSc(Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent (required)
• Current valid Healthcare Professional Council (HCPC) registration (required)
• Trained to cannulate and administer contrast agents (required for CT/MRI)
• Understanding of radiographic equipment in the context of how images are produced for both ionising and non-ionising radiation imaging methods and how images are appropriately shared and/or stored (required)
• Experience within at least two of the modalities within the rotation (MRI, CT, Xray & DEXA) (required)
• Must be able to demonstrate competency in IT (required)
