Job summary

TÜV Rheinland Solutions Rail Division, Derby, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead rolling stock consultancy projects, ensuring high standards and customer satisfaction. You will win and deliver your own projects, report to the Team Leader, and collaborate with the existing team to shape future work.

With 10–15 years in rail, Chartered Engineer status, and strong technical and commercial skills, you will drive BD activities and maintain client relationships while representing TÜV Rheinland at

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
• 10–15 years of rail industry experience.
• Chartered Engineer status (IMechE or IET).
• Extensive rolling stock engineering consultancy experience.
• Strong problem-solving, technical communication and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Win, manage and deliver projects with financial and technical reporting to the Team Leader.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to junior team members.
• Manage budgets, quality and timeliness of deliverables.
• Deliver technical consultancy services that add value for end clients.
• Support strategy and tactics with industry experience and input.
• Engage clients to grow the orderbook and represent TÜV Rheinland at events.
