Job summary

Cellular Origins is seeking a Senior Software engineer with a passion for robotics to design, implement and verify software for our cell therapy manufacturing platform. You will deploy on real hardware, work with mobile robots and bioprocess equipment, and mentor engineers to ensure high-quality solutions.

You’ll own architecture decisions, integrate with robotics and devices, and drive testing, CI/CD and documentation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering complex software across the development lifecycle.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with OO programming and software design patterns.
• Experience building backend services and APIs or messaging.
• Experience with distributed systems and event-based messaging.
• Strong testing, CI/CD and version control practices.
• Ability to mentor engineers and work across disciplines.
• Interest in robotics and hands-on hardware testing.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of the design, architecture, implementation and debugging of maintainable software components, services and interfaces across the robotics platform, driving key architectural decisions and ensuring solutions are scalable, robust and aligned with long‑term platform objectives.
• Integrate software with robots, devices and equipment.
• Develop and run tests on hardware to verify behaviour, diagnose failures and check fixes under realistic operating conditions.
• Build quality into delivery through test‑driven development, automated testing, continuous integration, and code review.
• Mentor colleagues, share technical knowledge and help junior engineers deliver consistent, high‑quality software.
• Collaborate across disciplines to resolve integration issues and deliver working features at a sustainable pace.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and test evidence to support development, verification and regulatory requirements.
