Job summary

Midlothian Council seeks an experienced Operations and Asset Manager to lead the roads and depot team at Fushiebridge. You will oversee reactive works, plan medium and long-term capital programs, and represent the service on internal and external boards.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (or Incorporated Engineer) with management experience, plus substantial capability in resources, procurement, and contract management. Permanent post; 36 hours; generous pension.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or Incorporated Engineer with management modules.
• Substantial experience in roads construction and maintenance contracting.
• Experience in organising and controlling substantial resources and employees.
• Experience in tendering for services and procurement for high-value equipment.
• Experience participating in multi‑organisation working groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations team at Fushiebridge depot and deliver reactive works.
• Feed into medium and long-term capital plans and participate in boards.
• Represent the service on internal and external forums and manage large contracts.
