Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior/Principal Engineer to join the River and Coastal Team across Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton, Bristol or Cardiff. The role focuses on river, coastal and land development projects with emphasis on flood risk management and sustainable drainage systems.

You will lead design, optioneering and delivery across project stages, coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors, and mentoring junior engineers where possible.

Qualifications

• Strong background in the design, optioneering, coordination, and delivery of projects.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and public bodies.
• Hands-on experience across all project stages from concept to completion, including coordination and engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

• Preparing designs for drainage strategies, flood risk management, river engineering and river restoration schemes
• Undertaking calculations and reports for planning and the design stage.
• Preparing plans and drawings at all stages of the project development cycle (concept through to construction)
• Design of Earthworks, river structures and drainage schemes and the associated specifications
• Ensuring high quality delivery in design through QA checks
• Engaging with the Environment Agency and other stakeholders to obtain approvals
• Liaising with clients, third party bodies and multi-disciplinary teams on projects
• Supporting projects during the construction stage, including site queries and inspections
• Opportunity to grow the team and mentor junior engineers, with potential for line management
