Job summary

Stantec in the UK is seeking a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to join the Rivers and Coastal Management team in Cambridge or Reading. You will work across the full project life cycle on flood risk, river and coastal schemes, and support strategic developments for public and private sector clients.

The role emphasizes design leadership, QA checks, and mentoring early career staff, with liaison to clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree is required.
• Chartered professional status, or close to application.
• Experience in relevant design roles.
• Experience working with multiple disciplines on design and specifications.
• Experience supervising construction works with contractors.
• Ability to represent Stantec in client-facing role.
• Ability to work independently producing high-quality technical work.
• Experience of AutoCAD is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs, specifications and reports for flood risk management schemes, river and coastal engineering.
• Prepare and communicate design information for all project stages from concept to construction.
• NEC contract management experience is desirable but not essential.
• Delegate to team members and ensure high-quality design information through QA checks.
• Liaise with Environment Agency, Marine Management Organisation and other stakeholders for consents.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and multi-disciplinary Stantec teams through all stages.
• Support projects through construction, including handling technical queries and inspections.
• Mentor and develop early career staff.
