Job summary

Janus Henderson Investors is seeking a senior Market Risk professional to lead oversight across market, liquidity, counterparty, and ESG risk domains. You will engage with front office risk teams, fund managers, and boards to ensure robust risk frameworks and regulatory compliance across Europe.

The role emphasizes development of risk methodologies, regulatory reporting, and collaboration with global risk functions, with hybrid working and a strong focus on professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Significant relevant experience in market risk management, credit or counterparty management, and liquidity risk management.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative measures of market risk.
  • Understanding of regulatory rules and regulations related to investment risk, counterparty risk management, ESG risk management and liquidity risk management, particularly in Europe.
  • Experience and knowledge of tools to support investment risk management, counterparty risk, and liquidity risk management, particularly MSCI RiskMetrics, LiquidityMetrics and Aladdin.
  • Knowledge of financial market products, asset management products, and asset management industry preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to build, implement, and maintain new processes, and analytical frameworks.
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional qualifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise to develop Market Risk oversight framework satisfying global and regional requirements.
  • Advise on best practice and technical standards for market risk methodologies, including VaR, leverage, and stress testing.
  • Ensure Market Risk oversight satisfies regional regulatory requirements (UCITS, AIFMD).
  • Support modelling of derivatives for market risk monitoring purposes.
  • Support Side by Side Risk framework and Risk vs Fees initiative.
  • Provide ICARA stress testing process expertise and analysis.

You Will
Market Risk Oversight
  • Provide expertise to the development of the existing Market Risk oversight framework that supports both global requirements as well as region or jurisdiction-specific regulations. This includes both working with, and providing challenge to, the front office investment risk team and fund managers,
  • Advise on best practice and technical standards for market risk methodologies, including VaR modelling, leverage, and stress testing,
  • Ensure that the Market Risk oversight activities satisfy all relevant regional regulatory requirements, including UCITS and AIFMD monitoring and reporting,
  • Support the Financial Risk team efforts in modelling complex derivatives for market risk monitoring purposes,
  • Support and develop the Financial Risk team’s responsibilities in respect to the Side by Side Risk framework and Risk vs Fees initiative,
  • Provide expertise in the ICARA stress testing process and support the Financial Risk team in providing the appropriate analysis.
Liquidity Risk Management
  • Provide expertise in liquidity risk management good practice in the context of UCITS and other European regulations,
  • Partner with the rest of the Financial Risk team to develop and support a firmwide Liquidity Risk Management framework that meets both firm-wide and regulator specific requirements including policy and related procedures for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting on liquidity risk,
  • Support and develop the Financial Risk team’s responsibilities in respect to the Capacity framework.
Counterparty Risk Management
  • Provide expertise to help with Financial Risk team’s efforts in developing and supporting a global counterparty risk program and policy, and related procedures for identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting on counterparty risk.
ESG Risk Management
  • Provide expertise to help with Financial Risk team’s efforts in developing and supporting the global ESG risk program and policy, and related procedures for identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting on ESG risk.
Other Responsibilities
  • Provide challenge and elevate risk issues appropriately,
  • Provide support and development opportunities to junior team members,
  • Represent Financial Risk to clients, fund boards and internal committees, as required,
  • Develop and produce quarterly, or more frequently as needed, management information and metrics for Board reporting, senior management, and internal oversight committees,
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
