Job summary

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Respiratory Sister/Charge Nurse (NHS AfC Band 6) for Bradford Royal Infirmary. The role is full-time with 24-hour service cover, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays, across respiratory inpatient ward and the new Respiratory High Dependency Unit on ward 10.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, oversee ward operations, manage staffing and discharge planning, and drive patient care to a high standard.

Qualifications

• Post-registration experience in an acute medical nursing setting; prior band 5 experience.
• Regularly in charge of a ward/department.
• Experience of working within the Multidisciplinary team.
• Delivered improvement in patient care.
• Experience in policy development.
• Experience of developing innovative practice.
• Experience of working in MDT and across organisational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• - Oversee daily ward/unit operations and supervise junior staff.
• - Manage nursing and clerical staff and ward administration.
• - Assist Ward Manager in organisation and control of patient care.
• - Develop leadership skills and professional/managerial growth.
• - Ensure effective communication across staff and multidisciplinary team.
• - Implement and maintain policies and ensure staff compliance.
• - Initiate improvements in services to patients with Ward Manager.
• - Produce staff rotas and shift patterns to meet care needs.
• - Consider skill mix to develop a responsive workforce.
• - In Ward Manager’s absence, investigate complaints and incidents and report accordingly.
