Job summary

University of Birmingham in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Administrator to provide broad administrative support within the Birmingham Business School. The role may involve line management and leading on specific tasks within a team, flexing across departments as needed.

You will apply a wide range of technical and administrative skills to manage complex processes, organise events, and contribute to wider university projects.

Qualifications

  • Educated to A Level or Level 3 qualification.
  • Minimum of grade C/4 in Mathematics and English at GCSE or equivalent.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, incl. MS Office and PowerPoint; ERP experience.
  • Experience implementing or working with automated workflows using software such as Power Automate.
  • Ability to plan ahead and manage workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a large, complex organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior administrative support across multiple areas within a department.
  • Line manage staff where applicable and coach team members.
  • Maintain high-profile stakeholder relationships and disseminate information as needed.
  • Organise events, meetings and manage bookings.
  • Prepare and analyse data, producing bespoke reports.
  • Support operational processes and systems, including budgeting tasks.
  • Provide secretarial support to relevant committees.
  • Ensure adherence to equality, diversity and inclusion duties.
