Job summary

SANQ Children’s Services is seeking a hands-on Residential Senior Support Worker / Team Leader in Birmingham and surrounding areas. You will lead shifts, create a safe and structured home, and build trusting relationships with young people.

The role involves supervising staff, supporting care planning, and ensuring safeguarding standards while promoting education and independence for the children in our care.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ Level 3 for children and young people in residential settings.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a children's residential setting.
• Senior/Team Leader experience (desired).
• Full UK driving license (desired).
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Children’s Homes Regulations.
• Flexibility for sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays (required).
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
• Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required).

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home.
• Create a safe, warm, and structured environment for young people.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with each child.
• Support care planning, key work, risk assessments, and placement plans.
• Supervise staff and promote high standards of care and safeguarding.
