Job summary

Clayton Legal in Banbury is seeking an experienced Assistant Head of Residential Conveyancing to lead the team without sacrificing fee earning. You will support the Head of Department with day-to-day management while continuing to handle a busy residential caseload.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years PQE, excellent client care and a proven ability to mentor colleagues, develop business and drive KPIs within a compliant, AML/SRA-led environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years PQE or equivalent experience as Solicitor/CILEX/CLC.
• Broad residential conveyancing experience.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
• Strong client care and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Head of Department with day-to-day team management.
• Mentor junior colleagues on complex matters.
• Conduct performance and file reviews.
• Assist with training and development plans.
• Manage your own residential caseload.
• Handle sales, purchases, transfers of equity and leasehold matters.
• Support business development and networking activities.
• Work toward KPIs and targets.
• Assist with complaints and risk management.
• Ensure AML, SRA compliance (and Lexcel where applicable).
• Represent department in meetings and lead in the Head's absence.
