This full-time fixed-term post runs until 30 March 2028 and offers the chance to work on an interdisciplinary project with partners at Bangor University, University of Warwick, Norwich Medical School, Environmental and Computing Sciences at UEA.
Salary on appointment will be £38,784 per annum, with an annual increment up to £46,049 per annum.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Computing Sciences to develop cutting-edge AI methods for the real-time prediction of bathing-water quality. This is an opportunity to work on a highly interdisciplinary research project with significant environmental and public-health impact, developing advanced machine-learning approaches to predict water-quality risks from complex environmental and spatio-temporal data. The project involves partners from Bangor University and the University of Warwick as well as the Norwich Medical School, Environmental and Computing Sciences at UEA.
As a Senior Research Associate, you will play a key role in developing and evaluating novel AI models, including approaches for spatio-temporal prediction and uncertainty estimation. You will contribute ideas and methodological innovations, analyse and interpret complex data, publish research findings and present research progress and outcomes. You will also have opportunities to contribute to grant applications and may be involved in the supervision of researchers and teaching of students within the School.
You will have a postgraduate-level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant area such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or Data Science. You will have experience of independent research and developing machine-learning methods. You will be proactive and results-driven, with strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Experience of deep learning, time-series or spatio-temporal modelling, uncertainty quantification, or environmental data analysis would be particularly advantageous.
This full-time post is available on a fixed term basis until 30 March 2028.
