Job description

DESCRIPTION

Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is central to Amazon's commitment to innovation. As Amazon evolves and adapts, this team ensures that the tools and technologies we use do as well. As a Senior RME Technician, you'll help us stay ahead by adopting the latest technologies and identifying efficient ways of working. Your role will involve monitoring our processes to maintain high standards and implementing upgrades to improve them.
Key job responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate best practices in equipment safety and monitor teams to ensure proper process adherence.
  2. Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition-based monitoring, and preventative maintenance; schedule additional servicing as needed.
  3. Supervise technicians on shift, support their development, and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
  4. Resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and maximize processing speed.
  5. Support continuous improvement of systems and standardize processes across the EU network.
A day in the life

In each shift, you'll lead a team to ensure equipment availability and proper operation. This includes monitoring processes for compliance and performing preventative maintenance to increase uptime.

You'll observe operational data, suggest efficiency improvements, and implement them across the EU network. Monitoring tools like Scada will be used to ensure system performance, and you'll work closely with your line manager on administrative tasks.

This role is based at an operational site, with shift patterns including some weekends and nights. As you gain experience, there are opportunities to progress into more senior roles.

About the team

The RME team maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment across Amazon’s global fulfillment centers. Our team comprises technically skilled professionals and experienced leaders, working on exciting and innovative technology, including Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.

Our work focuses on minimizing downtime to ensure timely customer orders. We operate during off-peak hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption and are always exploring new processes and technologies to improve efficiency and safety.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Full Engineering indentured Apprenticeship and/or NVQ Level 3 or higher in a relevant Engineering subject.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Experience with automation or material handling equipment.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in multi-contractor and multi-site environments.
  • Understanding of PLC control systems and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Degree in a technical discipline or operations is preferred.
