Job summary

Sompo Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Reinsurance Claims Specialist to manage a portfolio focused on casualty and motor reinsurance. You will handle claims from notification to resolution, reviewing coverage, liability, and damages while ensuring reserves are appropriate.

Travel to client visits, broker meetings, and industry events is required. Strong technical claims expertise and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years’ relevant claims experience, ideally in insurance or reinsurance
• Strong English communication skills essential
• Understanding of policy terms, coverage, and reserves desirable

Responsibilities

• Handle assigned reinsurance claims from first notification through to resolution.
• Assess loss exposures, coverage, liability, damages, and reserve adequacy.
• Monitor loss developments and escalate significant issues.
• Maintain claim files, diary management, and supporting documents.
• Engage with brokers, cedants, underwriters, actuaries, and finance teams.
• Attend claims meetings with cedants and brokers as required.
• Represent Sompo Re at market events when required.
