Job summary

The Meriden Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, Coventry, is seeking a Senior Registered Nurse for a bank position to cover shifts as needed across wards.

The role requires RN with NMC registration, mentorship qualification, and post‑registration experience, with responsibilities across patient care, safeguarding, and on‑duty leadership.

Qualifications

• Registered general nurse level 1 / Diploma / BSc in Nursing studies.
• Evidence of relevant clinical professional development, preferably RN with valid NMC Registration.
• Mentorship Qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent).
• Awareness of NMC Code of Accountability.
• Excellent clinical applied knowledge evidenced by national best practice standards.
• Basic workload / shift management skills.
• Understanding of workload and shift management.
• Maths, English GCSE grades A-C or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Ensure standards of patient care are maintained per policies and procedures.
• Provide individualized patient care with excellent standards.
• Advocate for safeguarding patients and speak up about care concerns.
• Adhere to NMC Codes of professional Conduct and HCPC framework.
• Deputise for Sister/Charge Nurse and lead clinical shifts when appropriate.

Overview

Senior Registered Nurse (Bank) – The Meriden Hospital in Coventry is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join our friendly and motivated team on the hospital wards.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, where you will supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff during annual leave or absence.

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

• Registered general nurse level 1 / Diploma / BSc in Nursing studies.
• Evidence of relevant clinical professional development, preferably certified RN with valid NMC Registration.
• Mentorship Qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent).
• Awareness of NMC Code of Accountability.
• Excellent clinical applied knowledge evidenced based on national best practice standards.
• Basic workload / shift management skills.
• Understanding of workload and shift management.
• Maths, English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence.
• Proficient in the use of a PC including use of software and systems.
• 18 months post registration experience.

Duties Of This Role Include

• Ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained in accordance with operational policies and procedures, enhance customer service and satisfaction of service users, and advocate for patients, employees and consultants.
• Provide individualized patient care, maintaining excellent standards.
• Act as an advocate for safeguarding patients and demonstrate courage to speak up when there are concerns about care.
• Conduct yourself professionally within NMC Codes of professional Conduct and HCPC framework.
• Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse and lead on clinical shifts where appropriate.
