Job summary

Tarmac is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead our North West and Cumbria operations. You will oversee a diverse asset portfolio and drive safety, efficiency and profitability across the region.

Based across the North and Scotland region, the role focuses on shaping regional strategy, delivering continuous improvement, managing budgets and developing leaders for sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Experience leading regional operations with a strong safety culture.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, financial performance and cost-benefit analyses.
• Track record of coaching and empowering managers and teams.
• Deep understanding of mineral extraction, planning and restoration activities.
• Knowledge of asphalt production, bituminous design and RAP.
• Excellent stakeholder management at senior levels.
• Strong analytical skills and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Data-driven approach to operational decisions and improvements.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to build long-term strategic plans with operational focus.

Responsibilities

• Leading teams to achieve safety, operational and financial targets.
• Owning the design and delivery of the annual regional strategy.
• Driving continuous improvement and sharing best practices.
• Managing regional budgets and cost control.
• Monitoring KPI performance and implementing improvements.
• Leading customer complaint reviews and corrective actions.
• Aligning production, sales and resource planning to maximise returns.
• Managing Capex planning and five-year investment plans.
• Supporting estate planning and quarry development with relevant teams.
• Championing sustainability objectives across operations.
• Developing and coaching leaders and successors.
