Job summary

Hussmann is seeking a skilled HVAC/R Technician to maintain, diagnose and repair refrigeration, heating and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets and cold storage facilities. The role emphasizes independent operation, customer relation development, and hands-on equipment expertise.

The position offers bi-annual bonuses, paid training, a company vehicle, sign-on bonus, and 22 days of paid time off. A strong mechanical background and EPA 608 certification are preferred for success.

Qualifications

• Required Level: High School Diploma/GED.
• Preferred level: HVAC-R Technical School Degree.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• Must have a Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be physically able to lift up to fifty pounds and work nights/weekends.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools.
• External 7 years in field or 5 years with Technical School certification; Internal 3 years as Certified Technician.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, diagnosis and repair of refrigeration, heating & air-conditioning systems.
• Operates independently with minimal supervision.
• Develops first line customer relations and identifies potential sales opportunities.
• Manage truck inventory; orders, receives, bills out and maintains parts responsibly.
• Complete necessary documents and electronic communication; use hand-held device for invoicing.
• Identify thermostatic expansion valves and troubleshoot/repair issues.
• Lead HVAC/R PM programs and serve as a technical resource to other technicians.
