Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South West offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other support needs. Our goal is to inspire hope and deliver change for everybody and every community we work with.
The Community Rehabilitation Service is an award winning service provided by Second Step in partnership with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust and Missing Link. Shaped by people who have used mental health services, the Community Rehabilitation Service gives people the support they need to achieve their hopes and goals. We are passionate about recovery and the service is Trauma informed. The post will be based at Second Step office at Pennywell Road, Bristol.
You will work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, having an oversight of the team caseload and leading the work to ensure that all service users are supported to access the required physical health screenings. You will have a key role in delivering specialist physical health and wellbeing interventions, ensuring that services are tailored to individual’s cultural and social needs.
The post holder will need excellent organisational and documentation skills for the role, as well as a sound understanding of the complexities around physical health and wellbeing needs of those experiencing mental health difficulties.
This is one of our Peer Recovery Navigators say about the service:
‘Working in community rehabilitation has been so eye-opening and encouraging for me. It really aligns with my own values and allies people in their wellbeing journey by taking a person-centred approach. Being able to work with people for longer allows for trusting relationships to develop and to really meet people in our shared humanity. Accompanying them on their healing journey and re-engaging with life in the community, empowering independence and supporting them to engage with activities or places that bring them joy or a sense of meaning. This relationship focussed approach feels so important for the people we get to work with, especially given some of the traumatic experiences they have so often experienced. I love working in this team, the culture is so supportive in its nature and we are really encouraged to bring ourselves, our experiences and skills into our work. I have found lots of opportunities for growth and development and learn a lot from my colleagues as it’s a multi-disciplinary team and it’s great to have so many perspectives and professions in one service!’
