Job summary

TxODDS is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in London (hybrid, 2 days in office) to own the reliability, availability, performance, and observability of our real-time data systems. You will lead 24/7 operations, collaborate with Infrastructure, Backend, Data Acquisition, Scores, and Client Support teams, and handle major incidents with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar in a high‑volume, data‑driven company.
• Strong hands‑on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and server management.
• Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix systems.
• Scripting expertise in Python, Bash, or similar.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
• Good knowledge of scalable logging infrastructure for fault analysis, diagnostics, data quality, and performance monitoring and optimisation.
• The ability to work in a cross‑functional team and communicate clearly with developers, engineers, and non‑technical colleagues.
• Willingness to join out‑of‑hours and weekend support arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability and performance of production systems.
• Take end‑to‑end operation ownership for real‑time data systems with high availability and low latency.
• Ensure 24/7 health of all products and data flow.
• Investigate operational risks and drive resolution.
• Set ownership and performance standards for reliability and service quality.
• Lead observability and incident response across teams.
• Manage major incidents and drive post‑incident reviews.
• Lead operational readiness ahead of major events (world sports calendar).
• Plan capacity and performance forecasting in line with the sporting calendar.
• Document system architecture, observability, and runbooks; collaborate with other teams.
