Job summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Rail Telecommunications Engineer to lead the design, assurance, delivery and support of telecommunications systems across major rail infrastructure projects.
You will provide engineering leadership for telecoms solutions including FTN/FTNx, fibre optics, IP networking, GSM-R, CCTV, PA, CIS, radio communications and operational telecoms infrastructure, working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver safely and in line with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Degree in Telecommunications, Electronic, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Significant rail telecoms engineering experience.
- CEng status desirable; strong communication and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead telecoms design and engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical assurance, design review, and engineering governance.
- Support the delivery of telecoms renewals, enhancements, and digital railway programmes.
- Manage technical risks, interfaces, and system integration activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
- Engage with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
