Job summary

AECOM seeks a Principal Rail Telecommunications Engineer to lead the design, assurance, delivery and support of telecommunications systems across major rail infrastructure projects.

You will provide engineering leadership for telecoms solutions including FTN/FTNx, fibre optics, IP networking, GSM-R, CCTV, PA, CIS, radio communications, and operational telecoms infrastructure, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Telecommunications, Electronic, Electrical or related Engineering discipline.
• Significant experience in rail telecommunications engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or pursuing registration desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead telecoms design and engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical assurance, design review, and engineering governance.
• Support telecoms renewals, enhancements and digital railway programmes.
• Manage technical risks, interfaces and system integration activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
• Engage with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
