Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Rail Telecommunications Engineer to lead the design, assurance, delivery and support of telecommunications systems for major rail infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom. You will provide senior technical leadership for FTN/FTNx, fibre optics, IP networking, GSM-R, CCTV, PA, CIS, and radio/telecoms infrastructure across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Significant rail telecommunications engineering experience is required.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards registration is desirable.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead telecoms design and engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical assurance, design reviews, and engineering governance.
• Support telecoms renewals, enhancements, and digital railway programmes.
• Manage technical risks, interfaces and system integration activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
• Engage with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
