Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Rail Telecommunications Engineer to lead the design, assurance, delivery and support of telecommunications systems across major rail infrastructure projects. You will provide engineering leadership for telecoms solutions including FTN/FTNx, fibre optics, IP networking, GSM-R, CCTV, PA, CIS, and operational telecoms infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Significant rail telecoms engineering experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards registration desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead telecoms design and engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical assurance, design review and governance.
• Support renewals, enhancements, and digital railway programmes.
• Manage technical risks, interfaces and system integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
• Engage with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
