Job summary

Porterbrook is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on safe operation of Porterbrook-owned rolling stock, leading heavy maintenance projects and ensuring compliance with railway standards.

You will manage engineering instructions, coordinate with suppliers, and guide direct reports through complex maintenance events. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in railway engineering, a Mechanical or Electrical degree/HNC, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years railway engineering knowledge and experience.
• Degree, HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience leading a team is desirable.
• Awareness of safety cases, certification issues, railway risks and group standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of Porterbrook-owned rolling stock.
• Lead heavy maintenance projects and oversee engineering change processes.
• Review technical documentation, engineering instructions and work scopes.
• Monitor deliverables from the supply chain and ensure robust implementation.
• Coordinate and mentor engineers during maintenance events and asset protection activities.
