Job summary

VolkerRail is seeking an experienced engineering supervisor to lead the HPE maintenance team across workshop and site activities in the UK. You will coordinate preventive maintenance, service, repair and fault response to keep plant safe, compliant and available for client projects.

Applicants should have a mechanical or electrical engineering background with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and be comfortable reading engineering drawings. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Trained apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.
• Experience in maintenance, fault finding and repair of plant equipment, rolling stock, machinery or vehicles.
• Ability to read engineering drawings/schematics for fault finding.
• Strong understanding of safe systems of work and quality records.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and lodge away from home.
• Full UK driving licence and good communication skills.
• Safety conscious with a responsible attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead, organise and support the HP&E maintenance team across workshop and site activities, ensuring resources are used effectively.
• Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, repairs and fault response so plant remains safe and available.
• Provide daily guidance, coaching and technical support to fitters, upholding high engineering standards.
• Review maintenance records and fault reports with the Assets Manager and Technical Standards Manager.
• Complete final checks before plant delivery and assess returned equipment for damage or follow-up action.
• Deliver technical and safety briefings and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
