Job summary

Certain Advantage is hiring a Senior Project Engineer based in Mansfield to lead the lifecycle of freight wagon and rolling stock projects from concept to handover, owning technical deliverables and milestone-driven plans.

You will collaborate across departments, manage changes and risks, and support manufacturing teams while mentoring engineers to uphold governance and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Senior Project Engineer with a solid mechanical engineering background.
• Proven experience within rail freight, rolling stock, or a comparable heavy engineering environment.
• Strong project management capability with experience coordinating resources and budgets.
• Excellent communication and commercial awareness with stakeholder influence.
• Delivery-focused and detail-oriented with proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering lifecycle of freight wagon and rolling stock projects from concept to manufacture and handover.
• Own technical deliverables and drive project plans to milestones.
• Manage engineering change, configuration control and technical risk with compliance considerations.
• Collaborate across departments and support technical approvals with evidence packs.
• Provide hands-on support to manufacturing teams and mentor engineers for governance.
