Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join the Rail Stations and Civil Engineering team in the UK. You will lead the technical delivery of rail civil engineering projects across the UK, guiding design teams and ensuring safety, sustainability and client outcomes.

As a senior technical leader you will mentor Early Career Professionals, build strong relationships with clients and authorities, and help grow the local rail civil engineering capability within the

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or IEng with ICE or equivalent.
• Experience acting as Contractor’s Responsible Engineer on rail projects (detailed design / design & build).
• Excellent understanding of railway structures, stations, bridges and rail systems.
• Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and developing technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of rail civil projects across the UK with emphasis on excellence and quality.
• Prepare and deliver safe, practical, sustainable engineering solutions for clients.
• Promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support multidisciplinary design teams across civil, structural, geotechnical, architectural, and rail disciplines.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and maintain programme, budget, and quality objectives.
• Collaborate with business development to pursue new opportunities.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with clients and authorities.
• Mentor and develop Early Career Professionals and other team members.
