Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Rail Stations and Civil Engineering team across the UK. You will lead the technical delivery of rail civil projects, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

You will mentor Early Career Professionals and collaborate with clients, authorities, and partners to shape delivering rail infrastructure excellence. UK travel may be required as projects span regions.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with ICE or equivalent.
Experience as Contractor’s Responsible Engineer on rail infrastructure projects.
Excellent knowledge of railway structures, stations, bridges and rail systems.
Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills.
Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical teams.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee technical delivery of UK rail civil projects with emphasis on technical excellence.
Prepare, review and deliver safe, practical, sustainable engineering solutions.
Promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the team.
Support multidisciplinary design teams across civil, structural, geotechnical, architectural and rail systems.
Identify and mitigate project risks and implement effective solutions.
Assist project managers to achieve programme, budget and quality objectives.
Collaborate with business development to pursue new opportunities.
Develop strong client and stakeholder relationships.
