Job summary

Randstad CPE in Leeds seeks an experienced Project/Design Manager to coordinate design across earthworks, drainage and structures within a high-pressure civil engineering environment. The role emphasizes interface management, client liaison, and adherence to programme and standards.

You will lead design consultants, manage procurement for design work, and support construction through planning and design delivery. A Chartered Engineer with rail experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
• ICE or IStructE accreditation desirable; supports others' development
• Minimum 5 years rail sector experience
• 2+ years in railway delivery & management
• 3+ years civil engineering project delivery
• Chartered Engineer PTS holder; may have held CRE (C) or CRE (D) roles
• Driving license

Responsibilities

• Coordinate temporary and permanent works design and interfaces within the construction team
• Interpret client remits to identify design requirements and scope
• Liaise with sub-contract design consultants and obtain fee proposals
• Place sub-contract orders with design consultancies
• Monitor site and ground investigation works to inform design delivery
• Provide client updates via reporting mechanisms
• Review sub-contract designer deliverables for client remit and standards
• Carry out technical reviews of documents and approve design submissions
• Support construction team during planning and construction phase
• Maintain design correspondence in project folders
