Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering / Building Engineering / Project Management or other relevant engineering subject.
• Professional Accreditation (ICE or IStructE) desirable.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the rail sector.
• 2+ years' experience in the railway industry delivering & managing rail projects.
• 3+ years in the delivery and management of Civil Engineering projects.
• Experience working as part of a team and coaching less experienced team members.
• Chartered Engineer PTS holder - may have held CEM, CRE (C) or CRE (D) roles in the past
• Driving Licence
• Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• The Project Manager (Design) will coordinate temporary and permanent works design and interfaces within the construction team for a variety of civil engineering projects.
• Interpret client remits to identify design requirements and agree scope of works with the client prior to progressing design works.
• Liaise with sub-contract design consultants, briefing them on our requirements, and obtain fee proposals for completing the agreed scope of works.
• Place sub-contract orders with design consultancies for engineering and temporary works design remits.
• Specify and monitor timely delivery of site and ground investigation works by operational staff to inform design delivery.
• Monitor and manage the production of design information against the contract programme, providing client updates via reporting mechanisms.
• Review sub-contract designer's deliverables to ensure designs fulfil the remit and comply with standards and regulations.
• Carry-out a technical review of all documents submitted by sub-contract design engineers and approve/ respond to deliver a design submission in line with standards.
• Provide support to the construction team during planning and construction phase - attend pre-start project meetings to brief construction engineers on design and drawings.
• Maintain all design correspondence in electronic format in section '3.1 - Designers' of the individual job folders.
