Job summary

The Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Radiotherapy Medical Physics Expert to join the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. The role is based primarily at the Freeman Hospital with occasional work at the Carlisle site.

You will lead treatment planning support, provide scientific and technical leadership, and drive major projects across a multidisciplinary team within the NHS Trust. A strong MPE background and radiotherapy physics experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Highly specialist radiotherapy physics knowledge including treatment planning and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead on major projects within the treatment planning service.
• Provide physics support to a team of 26 treatment planners.
• Commission new techniques and software upgrades.
• Report scientific & technical issues to senior physics, radiographic, medical and managerial staff.
• Develop and deliver research and development activities for healthcare advancement.
• Line manage and mentor staff.
• Teach on Clinical Scientist and FRCR training courses.
