Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Radiation Protection Adviser to join our Radiation Protection & Characterisation team. You will provide independent radiation protection advice, perform audits and assessments, and help clients meet statutory obligations across diverse regulated sectors.

The role requires an RPA2000 certificate, strong knowledge of IRR17, and the ability to translate legislation into practical guidance.

Qualifications

• Hold current RPA2000 Certificate of Competence as a Radiation Protection Adviser.
• Significant practical experience in radiation protection.
• Strong working knowledge of IRR17 and related guidance.
• Experience providing radiation protection advice to clients or operations.
• Experience conducting radiation protection audits and compliance assessments.
• Ability to interpret legislation into practical, proportionate advice.
• Strong technical report writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent radiation protection advice to clients in accordance with IRR17 and applicable legislation.
• Undertake client audits, inspections and site visits, identifying non-compliance and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and review radiation risk assessments and related documentation.
• Offer practical guidance on area designations, controls and safe systems of work.
• Produce clear, robust reports and recommendations post-audits and engagements.
• Develop and deliver radiation protection training to clients and colleagues.
• Liaise with clients, regulators and technical specialists.
• Provide technical leadership on projects requiring radiation protection expertise.
• Mentor developing Radiation Protection Advisers and professionals.
• Contribute to corporate radiation protection standards and capability.
