Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Radiation Protection Adviser to join the Radiation Protection & Characterisation team. This consultancy role supports diverse clients across nuclear, defence, industrial, and research sectors, providing independent radiation protection advice and leading audits and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Significant practical experience in radiation protection, health physics or related discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of IRR17 and associated guidance.
• Experience providing radiation protection advice to clients or operational organisations.
• Experience undertaking radiation protection audits and compliance assessments.
• Ability to translate legislation into practical advice.
• Strong technical report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation protection advice to clients per IRR17 and applicable legislation.
• Undertake audits, inspections and site visits identifying non-compliance.
• Prepare and review radiation risk assessments, Local Rules and procedures.
• Provide practical guidance on area designation, controls and safe systems of work.
• Produce clear, technically robust reports and recommendations after audits.
• Develop and deliver radiation protection training to clients and colleagues.
• Mentor other Radiation Protection Advisers and staff.
• Contribute to RP&C standards and growth of capability.
