Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) to join our Radiation Protection & Characterisation team in the UK. You will provide independent radiation protection advice to a diverse client portfolio across nuclear, defence, industrial, and research sectors.

The role involves conducting audits, risk assessments, Local Rules, and training; you will work autonomously, travel to client sites, and mentor junior RPAs while helping build our capability and client

Qualifications

• Current RPA2000 Certificate of Competence required.
• Significant practical experience in radiation protection.
• Strong knowledge of IRR17 and associated guidelines.
• Experience providing radiation protection audits and client advice.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent radiation protection advice to clients in accordance with IRR17 and applicable legislation.
• Undertake client audits, inspections and site visits, identifying non-compliance and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and review radiation risk assessments, Local Rules, procedures and contingency plans.
• Provide practical advice on areas designation, engineering controls, monitoring and safe systems of work.
• Produce clear, robust reports and recommendations after audits and engagements.
• Develop and deliver radiation protection training to clients and colleagues.
• Mentor developing Radiation Protection Advisers and support RP&C projects.
• Contribute to RP&C standards and growth of the capability.
