Job summary

IonQ, Inc. (Oxford Ionics) is seeking a Senior Optics Technician to join the Optical Manufacturing team in Oxford.

You will build and commission optical and laser assemblies used in our quantum systems, collaborating with technicians, engineers and scientists to support builds, maintenance and upgrades. You will work on precision optical assembly, alignment, and fibre coupling, following drawings and test procedures, while maintaining safe, tidy lab and workshop practices; this role is on-site

Qualifications

• Experience assembling and testing scientific instrumentation.
• Electrical/subsystem assembly and fault finding.
• Class 4 laser safety training and PPE familiarity.
• Hands-on lab work with lasers and optics.
• Proficient in reading mechanical/electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Build and commission optical and laser assemblies.
• Support system maintenance and upgrades with engineers.
• Handle high-precision components and perform alignment.
• Document work and test equipment before shipment.
• Maintain a safe laboratory environment for laser work.
