Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Senior Optics Technician for its Oxford Optical Manufacturing team. You will build and commission optical and laser assemblies used in quantum systems, supporting builds, maintenance and upgrades alongside a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers and scientists.

You will handle high-precision components, follow mechanical and electrical drawings, document work, and ensure a safe laboratory environment. The role requires five days on site per week in Oxford.

Qualifications

• Lab experience with lasers and optics.
• Precision assembly and testing of high-technology equipment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience testing equipment before shipment.

Responsibilities

• Build and commission optical and laser assemblies.
• Support system maintenance and upgrades with engineers and scientists.
• Handle high-precision and delicate components using appropriate tools.
• Follow drawings and instructions, document work and test equipment before shipment.
• Maintain a safe laboratory/workshop environment when working with lasers and optics.
