Job summary

STRABAG SE is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Technical Services) to join the HARP Project. You will cover all engineering and design commercial functions and support technical services overall, with a focus on commercial excellence and governance.

The role requires CSCS, RICS/ICES progression toward Chartership, strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and measurement, and excellent MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• CSCS Card required or in progress.
• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards Chartership.
• Excellent knowledge of standard forms of contract and measurement.
• Strong computer literacy and MS Office skills.
• Good communication, presentations and negotiation abilities.
• Experience in programming techniques, project controls, risk, procurement and cost/claims.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial support across project(s) and advise on commercial issues.
• Develop and promote commercial awareness within the team.
• Ensure site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
• Develop, motivate and manage junior staff performance.
• Prepare internal commercial reports and payment valuations with full documentation.
• Prepare cost reports to client with compliant documentation.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules and subcontract payments.
• Administer contracts, handle change management and maintain registers.
• Identify risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Maintain accurate site records and client communications.
• Implement WBS structures to meet client and contract requirements.
• Maintain cost to complete and risk analysis registers.
• Negotiate changes, EOTs and final accounts.
• Measure quantities per standard methods as required.
• Coordinate client management communications.
• Draft complex subcontract arrangements and engagement terms.
• Advise on insurance issues including PI.
• Improve cash flow, WIP control and margin improvement plans.
• Support in business development and technical writing for PQQs.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
• Participate in client engagement events and business improvement initiatives.

Senior Quantity Surveyor (Technical Services)

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Technical Services department on the HARP Project, covering all engineering and design commercial functions, and supporting technical services more generally. 

• Skills card - CSCS Card.
• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards Chartership.
• Commercially astute. Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications.
• Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
• Programming techniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract admin, procurement, cost, claims.

• Preparation of Valuations/Application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
• Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Ensure the correct site records are maintained.
• Implement a WBS structure to satisfy the Client & Contract requirements.
• Have an up-to-date Cost to Complete and Risk analysis Register for the projects(s).
• Preparation, negotiation and agreement of change events, extension of time claims, final accounts etc.
• Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
• Ensure appropriate Client Management is initiated and maintained.
• Drafting of complex subcontract arrangement including professional services & appropriate terms of engagement.
• Identification and advice upon of insurance related issues, including PI.
• Maximising of cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans.
• Maintain / assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
• Assist in work winning duties as required, including technical writing for PQQ responses.
• Undertake any other work as required of you by your line manager.
• Attend client engagement events for equivalent level customer feedback.
• Involvement in Business Improvement Initiatives.
