Job summary

STRABAG UK is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support major construction projects across Edinburgh and the UK. You will manage commercial and contractual aspects, ensuring robust cost control and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle.

The role focuses on budgets, procurement, subcontract negotiations, and final accounts, with opportunities for professional development within STRABAG UK's Buildings Division.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK construction industry.
• Strong cost management, procurement and commercial reporting understanding.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial and contractual aspects from pre-construction to final account.
• Work with project teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure robust cost control.
• Prepare, monitor and manage budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
• Undertake cost planning and value engineering throughout the lifecycle.
• Manage procurement, tender analysis, package recommendations and subcontract negotiations.
• Prepare and administer subcontract agreements and documentation.
• Assess subcontractor applications, variations and final accounts.
• Produce monthly CVRs and financial reports for senior leadership.
• Support business performance reports and project reviews.

STRABAG UK are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join our Buildings Division to support the successful delivery of major construction projects in Edinburgh and throughout the UK.

• Strongknowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT forms.
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, CommercialManagement, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Experienceworking as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK construction industry.
• Provenexperience delivering building projects across commercial, residential,healthcare, education, or public sector environments.
• Excellentunderstanding of cost management, procurement, and commercial reporting.
• Strongnegotiation and communication skills.
• Proficient inMicrosoft Office and commercial management software

About the Role:

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients, the successful candidate will ensure robust cost control, risk management, and commercial performance while supporting STRABAG UK's commitment to quality, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Requirements:

• Prepare,monitor, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
• Undertakecost planning and value engineering exercises throughout the projectlifecycle.
• Manageprocurement activities including tender analysis, package recommendations,and subcontract negotiations.
• Prepareand administer subcontract agreements and associated documentation.
• Assess andprocess subcontractor applications, variations, and final accounts.
• Monitorproject costs and identify opportunities to improve commercialperformance.
• Produceaccurate monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs).
• Preparefinancial reports, forecasts, and management information for seniorleadership.
• Assist inthe preparation of business performance reports and project reviews.
• Administercontracts in accordance with project requirements and applicable forms ofcontract, including JCT.
• Prepare,submit, and negotiate interim valuations and payment applications.
• Identify,quantify, and manage variations, compensation events, and change controlprocesses.
• Supportthe preparation and agreement of project final accounts.
• Maintainaccurate commercial records and contractual correspondence.
