Job Overview

Expanded Structures, a division of Laing O'Rourke specializing in reinforced concrete basement, substructure, and superstructure frame construction, is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a defence project in Pirbright, Surrey. The project involves constructing a new Army Basic Training facility to serve as a Centre of Excellence for non-infantry Basic Training for the British Army.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all senior quantity surveying duties including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
• Manage PCSA and main works responsibilities.
• Prepare and manage interim payment applications and certifications.
• Draft, manage, and settle subcontracts.
• Oversee and report on monthly project costs.
• Draft and prepare claims and final accounts.
• Manage trainees, assistant quantity surveyors, and quantity surveyors.
• Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to achieve project goals while maintaining relationships.
• Advise project management on contractual and commercial risks.
• Prepare and manage contractual review reports, business plan information, and management accounts.
• Assist in establishing the project budget from contract award.
• Identify, agree upon, and implement change control processes.
• Ensure proper execution of contract documents before project start.
• Communicate clearly and confidently to a professional standard.
• Keep management informed of issues or risks affecting the project.
