Job summary

Thorn Baker Group is recruiting a permanent Quantity Surveyor to join a growing residential contractor based in Nottingham. The role is full-time, hybrid with frequent site visits, offering a salary of £50,000-£65,000 plus benefits.

You'll prepare cost plans, tender docs and valuations, manage procurement, monitor budgets and support project commercial management across student accommodation projects nationwide. A degree/HND in Quantity Surveying and driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous but not essential.
• Valid driving licence to facilitate site visits and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage detailed cost plans, estimates and tender documentation for residential projects.
• Undertake regular site visits to monitor progress, verify quantities and assess variations.
• Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiating favourable terms.
• Administer contracts and manage procurement in line with company policies.
• Monitor project budgets and forecast costs for financial reporting.
• Prepare interim valuations and final accounts for timely payments.
• Maintain records of all cost and contract documentation for audits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the commercial team.
