Job summary

Thorn Baker Construction is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor in Nottingham. The role focuses on managing cost plans, tender documentation and procurement for residential student accommodation projects across the UK.

You will regularly visit sites, monitor progress and advise on cost variances. A degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is preferred, with membership of a professional body advantageous.

Qualifications

• Valid driving licence to facilitate site visits and meetings across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage detailed cost plans, estimates and tender docs for residential projects.
• Undertake regular site visits to monitor progress and verify quantities.
• Analyse and evaluate subcontractor quotations to achieve cost savings.
• Administer contracts and procurement in line with policies and standards.
• Monitor project budgets and forecast costs for reporting.
• Identify and resolve cost-related issues with project teams.
• Prepare interim valuations and final accounts for payments.
• Maintain comprehensive cost and contract records for audits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the commercial team.
