Job summary

Thorn Baker Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction business delivering refurbishments, fit-outs and general building projects across the South West.

In this role you will take ownership of the commercial aspects of multiple projects, manage budgets and cash flow, prepare valuations and final accounts, and ensure contracts and subcontractor payments are processed efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction projects.
• Experience with main contractor projects (refurbishment/fit-out/general building).
• Strong commercial and financial management skills.
• Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Manage project costs, budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Prepare valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and accounts.
• Prepare and assess variations, change orders and compensation events.
• Monitor expenditure and identify commercial risks.
• Produce cost reports and financial updates.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Support tendering, estimating and procurement activities.
• Ensure contractual obligations and commercial docs are maintained.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
